George Wendt, an American actor and comic who earned six consecutive Emmy nominations for his efficiency as Norm Peterson on the beloved NBC comedy collection “Cheers,” died Tuesday morning at his residence. He was 76.
Wendt’s dying was confirmed by his publicist Melissa Nathan with the next assertion: “George was a doting family man, a well-loved friend and confidant to all of those lucky enough to have known him. He will be missed forever. The family has requested privacy during this time.”
