Carrie-Anne Moss Says Rejecting Roles for Motherhood Was a No-Brainer

Carrie-Anne Moss has no regrets about selecting to concentrate on motherhood over her profession.

During a current interview with The Independent, the actress opened up about her reasoning for turning down massive film offers on the peak of her profession, when The Matrix franchise was skyrocketing.

“After The Matrix was such a big deal, I took a big, big break to have children and be with them,” Moss defined. “I remember being torn, having a little twinge like ‘Gosh, I’m getting offered such great things. That would be such a huge deal.’”

She continued, “And I was holding my baby in my arms, and I remember thinking, ‘At the end of my life, will it matter to me that I have another movie on my résumé? Or will it matter to me that I held my baby?’ And I instantly thought, no. It was just a no-brainer. And I’m so glad I did that. I’m so glad I don’t have that regret.”

The actress starred as Trinity within the hit franchise, reverse Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburn. She made her debut within the unique 1999 cult basic, directed by Lana Wachowski and Lilly Wachowski, in addition to two sequels, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions.

Moss later determined to show her consideration again to her appearing profession and reprised her position in 2021’s The Matrix Resurrections. However, Warner Bros. determined to launch it in theaters and on streaming on the similar time that 12 months, partly impacting the movie’s box office.

“It was an odd time,” she mentioned of The Matrix Resurrections‘ launch technique. “They put it on some streaming platform [HBO Max]. But I really don’t spend too much time thinking about what people think of things. I’ve always said this, and it’s kind of cliché, but you only have control over your own experience. That film was really such a gift, and I loved making it.”

Moss shares three youngsters — two sons and a daughter — together with her husband Steven Roy. Since returning to the trade, she has appeared in a number of different initiatives, together with Jessica Jones, Tell Me a Story, Wisting, The Acolyte and FUBAR, amongst others.
